Pluto as a symbol of both Soul and sex suggests that sexuality is integral to evolution.  Beyond simple descriptions of the sexual nature of any person, Evolutionary Astrology enables us to understand an individual’s instinctual desire nature, sexual desires and orientations, and sexual experiences, in the wider context of the Soul’s overall karmic past and evolutionary intentions.  With this information we are able to understand “why”: why this sex, this orientation, these encounters.  This talk will explore signatures of sexuality in the birthchart, focusing specifically on the archetypes of Pluto and Venus and the correspondent 2^nd/8^th house and Taurus/Scorpio polarities.  We will examine how the condition and the relationship of these archetypes reveals the state of an ongoing dialectic in any Soul between sexual attitudes and orientations (Venus) and sexual encounter and experience (Pluto), with each influencing the other, both within any particular lifetime and across multiple lifetimes.  In so doing we will come to understand more deeply the profound relationship between Eros and Psyche – between sexual desires and the desires of the Soul.
